Customer Spotlight: BlocPower

Greenwork is very proud to announce we’ve partnered with BlocPower to support their growth across America.

Based in Brooklyn, NY, BlocPower is a full-service building decarbonizer, providing data analytics, financing, design, construction, workforce development, and customer support to remove the fossil fuel infrastructure from buildings while improving occupant health and comfort in the process. BlocPower is leading the way in greening US cities, partnering with a growing list of city governments and utilities to implement ambitious decarbonization plans.

Through this partnership, Greenwork will provide BlocPower with rich data describing specialty contractors – the local HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and solar contractors that do the hands-on work of green building upgrades. We’ll use this data to identify the best contractor partners in each city BlocPower grows into, and support BlocPower’s efforts to onboard contractors to the BlocPower network.

Greenwork will Support BlocPower as it Grows its Contractor Network

BlocPower has completed over 1,200 building projects to date. The company is building on this success to rapidly green cities across America, with agreements to lead the decarbonization of cities like New York, Ithaca, Oakland, Menlo Park, and others.

To upgrade buildings, BlocPower partners with local contractors that specialize in green HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, and other carbon-saving building upgrades. There are many attributes required to be a great contractor partner — experience working with modern building technologies like heat pumps, the context to understand how their work contributes to the broader decarbonization of the building, and the ability to represent the BlocPower brand to customers.

To help find these great partners, Greenwork will provide BlocPower data describing thousands of contractors in key counties. Greenwork combines many open-source datasets to give a clear picture of contractors operating in a metro area, including:

• Contractor licensing data
• Aggregated customer reviews
• Permit history, showing products installed and job sizes in dollars
• Insurance and bonding amounts
• Product certification listings (e.g. Enphase, Mitsubishi, SunPower)
• Technologies / Manufacturers / Products contractors have installed
• Identifying and preferencing Minority- and women-owned businesses

Once the data is in place, Greenwork handles the initial contractor outreach, on the phone and by email. Anyone who’s run a construction project knows: selecting and onboarding the team requires a huge amount of coordination. Greenwork takes the early phases of that work on, so the BlocPower team can focus on conversations with qualified, interested partners (along with a ton of other important work they do).
